baby struggling out of the house

really struggling with settling my baby outside the house. baby is 12 weeks old, first baby, really happy and alert, super smiley, loves to play but doesn't seem to like being out of the house and its making me really lonely and isolated
so as not to drip feed

  • wont go in pram without crying - tried putting him in full tummy / 30 mins after feed / after nap / before nap / with white noise / with musical toy he likes / with pram toy / with dummy / with my top over mattress / with blankets roller either side
  • suddenly seems to hate being in pubs/cafes (family friendly, not taking him to bars) never bothered him before but now he just screams

he does settle really well in a carrier but its not sustainable for me, my back is killing and I just cant carry that and a nappy bag too, its too much. he sleeps well on a night (8 hours undisturbed) so hes fine on his back, he loves his playmat too so I dont think lying down is a problem.
any tips or suggestions welcome, please be kind I am worn out and fed up.

3 months...about the time their vision starts to develop more, and they realize there's more to the world! My DS was like this.... changing him from the bassinet to putting his car seat on the buggy frame worked, as he had a better view. He wasn't at the development stage to manage sitting in the seat of his buggy (not intended to be used from birth).
Like so many other things, it's a phase and it will pass.

He's probably more alert now, so has noticed that he's in a busy cafe etc. it might just not be a thing that works well for you right now.

Pram - these things go in waves. It sounds like you've tried everything, so perhaps just leave it for a few weeks and try again?

The sling almost certainly can get better! I'm a total weakling and have carried my 18 month old for large chunks of today. Find some good YouTube tutorials and fiddle with the straps. Or even better, find a sling library to help (possibly with a new sling of your one doesn't work for some reason). Or just an experienced mum / baby group leader etc who can help - honestly, if it's not comfy at 12 weeks it's because something is wrong, not becasue he's too big (assuming you don't have back problems etc).

What type of pram top is he in? Bassinet or the proper seat facing you? If still in Bassinet honestly I think your issues may be solved by swapping to the proper seat, even with it lying flat, my baby started hating the pram and it was literally just that she hated the bassinet because she wanted to have a good nosy around (like me😂)

Is he lying down in the pram or do you sit him up a bit? He might want to see around him.

hes in a bassinet pram, our car seat does clip onto the pram base and it relaxes out so its safe to use for a much longer length of time, he can look around in that and is slightly better but not really, he doesnt really like his car seat / being in the car, that also seems to make him cry.

carrier is a struggle as I do have some mild back issues but also dont find it as practical with nappy bag

Did you not get a seat fixing with your pram OP?

Lots of them are suitable from birth (mine was) so you can just have him in there or on a slight incline x
