Eye contact

I have 4 month year old who smiles at my partner and me. They also follow us with their eyes when we move around in the same room. However they don't seem to keep eye contact for a long period, should we be worried?

That sounds completely normal. What are you worried about that they are tiring quicker than you expected from taking everything in or that their vision isn’t very good?

@FuzzyGoblin just worried about social skills as I don't want to miss any early signs of issues.

Sounds completely normal. It's way too soon to be thinking about social skills at 4 months. If you have concerns when they hit 18-24 months, that's the time to get them checked. Just enjoy your baby, it goes so quick x

Are you suggesting autism? Eye contact really isn’t a defining characteristic of neurodivergence. Babies have too much going on to focus on one thing for long. Smiling at four months suggests normal development.
