13 month old concerns

Hi all

My LO has just turned 13 months. I'm concerned about a couple of things at the moment. He only has two words which are 'uh oh' and 'go'
The other thing I'm concerned by is the fact he used to point a lot but this has drastically declined recently??? Has anyone else experienced a gesture come and go ?
He has just started walking so not concerned about physical development.

I think this is really normal. He's using words, which is great and he points which is also good. What is his understanding like?

I think when kids first learn a new skill, they often use it all the time because it is novel and exciting. Once the skill is not so new any more they do it less. If your lo has just started walking, he's probably really focused on that now, so can't point as much because he's using his hands for pulling up and balancing. And his brain is preoccupied with staying on 2 feet, so he can't manage pointing at the same time.

His understanding is fairly good. Understands where is mummy, daddy, the dog, granny, and other various objects.
He looks at them doesn't always go and get them though.
He understands the word no and shakes his head and sometimes stops !
I think the pointing has worried me mostly as this seems to have stopped completely in the last couple of days. Very odd.

Nothing particularly concerning there. Neither of mine said anything until 13 months and didn’t walk until 15 & 18 months, respectively. All sounds very normal to me.

Perfectly normal at that age. My 2 year old only seems so say 5 to 10 words currently, but in the past has said maybe 20 to 25 different ones, he just gets bored of them. You've got plenty of time before it gets concerning.

Thanks it's more the not pointing as much that's really worrying me x

Still a bit early to be worrying about the pointing. Mine did a general wave towards what he wanted, then stopped altogether for a while before eventually mastering pointing

My son didn't really say anything until he turned two. I didn't take him for his two year assessment because I was frightened they would say he had something wrong with him. Then I had his sister.

All of a sudden he started talking.
