Plane journey tips and Can I take formula / boiling water through airport security?

As the title says. I'm taking my baby on holiday soon, she'll be 9 months then. She's formula fed. I'll obviously need to make her some feeds on the plane.

The first leg of the plane journey is 7 hrs. Connection at Dubai Airport for 3 hrs and onto our final destination with a 3 hr flight. So in total the journey will be 13-14hrs.

Any tips please???

Also can I take pouches through security.. less than 100ml rule?

Any help would be appreciated x

Just collect at boots after security and buy it made up-you do not want to be ticking about on the plane with boiling water. Coming back again just use pre made-they May make you drink it.

Check with your airline about their allowance for baby food/milk. We flew with Ryanair when DD was 8 months, and had 5kg allowance for baby formula/food. Get premade formula for journey and possibly an extra day or two of your trip.

You can take anything you need for baby through security in reasonable quantities for the flight. That includes bottles already made up, ready made cartons of formula and baby food. The 100ml rule doesn’t apply. Personally I found it easiest to take the ready made cartons plus empty sterilised bottles because they last if your flight is delayed, you don’t have to worry the water being the right temp and there isn’t the risk of pouring hot water between containers whilst on a moving plane holding a baby. Then pouches of baby food. And some finger food snacks but they’re not liquids so no issue with those. Never bothered with Boots click and collect, it’s only an option on the outbound anyway, and personally I’d rather get everything sorted and organised at home and allow an extra few minutes for security which is time you make up by not having to go to Boots!

In reference to the PP I’ve never been asked to taste it or even heard of that- it goes through a special liquid scanner usually. I’d always take a few extra in case of delays anyway and I guess that would allow for that too as if you taste a carton you’ll need to bin it as if opened it will spoil before your flight even boards.

Pack loads of spare clothes for all of you. 2 days worth of nappies and several packs of wipes. There’s a decent chance of a vom or nappy leak or if you’re really unlucky both because planes do funny things to babies. And mentally prepare yourself. It’s the worst age to fly with because they’re too big for the bassinet, too young to watch a movie, want to crawl but can’t, have cut down to 2 naps, may not find it easy to fall asleep with everything going on, their toys are massive but their attention span is short. Not saying you shouldn’t go, no doubt the trip makes it worth it, but best to steal yourself that it’ll be hard work!!
