Baby doing weird thrusting motions and then crying

Hello all!

i can’t find a way to express this properly to google and we’re waiting on a paediatrician appointment, so I thought I’d see if anyone here has experienced anything similar…

I noticed that my lo was doing weird thrusting movements in her sling when she was about 8 months but reasoned that this was a soothing movement that she was trying out and wasn’t too concerned. Now she’s 10 months and is doing the movement much more often and intensely and often crying during. It’s kind of like she’s rubbing her legs together and thrusting her hips at the same time and she clenches her fists and gets a focussed expression on her face. She’s been doing this every day at least once recently - she’s been poorly with a sickness bug and cold and may be getting her first tooth, so could this be why??

Im feeling pretty lost on this one and our dr just said ‘somethings not right’ when I showed him a video of her doing it and that it could be intestinal or maybe neurological when I pressed him. He couldn’t say when our ped appointment would be but he did flag it to them.

lo has also had a bit of blood in her poo months ago - I am trialling no dairy for her and she’s had no blood since then. She’s been badly constipated and crying when pooing at times so we’ve been giving her lactolose.

if you’ve read all of this, thank you! Any thoughts really welcome (: (:

You are doing the right thing to get it looked into op. Try to relax until then as it may be something relatively simple.

It does sound to me like it could be intestinal, especially if there is a bit of blood and with the constipation. I had a cousin who was a bit older who got bad constipation and it ended up in an anal fissure- a small tear in the anus that often self-heals. This was a result of the stools getting hard so they were pushing quite hard and the stools were not soft enough to pass through easily. An anal fissure can result in a bit of bright fresh blood when it re-tears? It would also make passing painful so it could be as “ uncomplicated” as a small external tear. Try not to worry. My aunt had to give my cousin prune bar which we all thought was called poo bar and they hated it so would run round being chased by their poo bar. I have vivid memories. The lactulose sounds much better!
