Taking the plunge tomorrow, am a little bit nervous, I think ds is going to cope better than me
Assuming it goes well in the morning, do I put his nappy back for nap or not?

I did at first because although dd was almost straight away she wasn't 100% reliable so put a nappy back on when I put her down for a nap and took it off again as soon as she was up.
How old is he? I tried a few times before deciding dd was actually ready and when she was it was a breeze.

Good Luck your ds.

he's 2.8 and we've been talking about it for a ages. he's also got a potty training story which we have been reading most nights.

I'm going to try and skip the potty and go straight for the toilet. He's pretty adaptable so am hoping he just takes it in his stride and manages it.

thanks for the luck,

DD was just 3 when she finally did it, we had about 203 days on the potty just because it was right there and handy rather than her having to rush to the loo. After those few days we never used the potty again.
He sound like he will do fine, one of the reasons dd was 3 was that she was adamant that she wanted to keep wearing her pink priness pull ups think she was a bit frightened of the unknown and once she done it she was great.

Ive just done my ds and we didnt do nappies for naps but i did put one of those pampers bedmats on the bed just in case...since easter he has had only 2 accidents inbed and these were both in the first week.

i would also recommend putting pants on rather than letting him run round in the nude as pants do help to catch accidents.

Good luck and dont worry it really wasnt as bad as i thought it would be...was actually fairly easy and now he's pretty sorted (just the od poo accident and even these are less messy than a pooey nappy) it is so much better than nappies

203 days on the potty??? Hardly!!! I meant 2-3 days.

woodenchair · 24/04/2008 12:02

well that was a non starter.
I decided to borrow a friends potty for the first 2-3 days, (or is that 203 ). It was going well, he kept running into the kitchen and having a go, with no results but was being good tempered about it.
Then he wet himself and got really upset, huge tears rolling down his face and kept asking for a nappy. So i gave in, I don't want him having negative feeling towards it.
I'll try again tomorrow

day 2 is going much better. To begin with he was fine then he needed to pee and got a bit upset that I wouldn't put a nappy on him. So have moved the potty infront of telly. So far 5 wees and no accidents, although he won't actually get off the potty!

Aaawww bless him. Everytime DD trumped in the potty she jumped up to see if there was anything there.
5 wees is fantastic well done him. Ao what if he won't get off it he is gettingat is them in the right place that is the first start.
How did the rest of the day go?
