Twins/Baby sleeping at night

I have not long had twins who are now 7weeks old. I am feeding them myself both at same time. They go through a bad spell of crying from about 5pm-9pm, taking it turns to cry. My husband takes them for an hour or two after their last bottle feed and I sleep. I feed them then at 12.30am, wind them etc which takes ages with two. However when I put them down they are making lots of little noises like grunting etc but aren’t crying. I can’t sleep as I’m worried they are going to start screaming but they would be grunting for over 30mins. Do I pick them up or leave them and try and get over to sleep myself? I’m even rocking the cot with my foot. I don’t want them to get into habit of me picking them up and rocking them to sleep. Any advise on what I should do is much appreciated

Congrats!

If you leave them in the cot, what happens? If they're happy, I would leave them to fall asleep on their own.

I would also leave them if they are happy (and burped so they don’t have excess gas). Newborns can be very noisy sleepers - look up videos of newborn active sleep.

Thank you, most nights if I drift off with them grunting they don’t wake until ready for their next feed. Sometimes they do get restless though and I’m up and down trying to settle them which just turns into a vicious cycle. Any tips on getting them to sleep? I’m using white noise as well

Just wanted to add that most BFing mums don't tweak it bother with winding. I can understand you wanting to do it after a bottle feed but there's not much need after a BF.

If they are grunting a bit, you could try resting a hand gently on their tummy for a short while. If they drift off to sleep they are fine, if they start to cry or don't settle them they might want another feed.

Leave them - they are settling themselves and sleeping which is brilliant.

If they are tag teaming awake times you may want to wake the second as soon as the first wakes to feed them together and thereby synchronise their sleep.

If they are bottle fed feeding them on a (double) feeding pillow so they are a bit upright can also help with winding.

My twins are now 16mo. We let ours self settle, fed, changed and swaddled they would make all kinds of little piglet noises but eventually nod off. Some nights i would lay there listening too them wondering if it was normal but it is. And it didnt last for long
