Moving house & applying for secondary schools

Evening everyone

I’m in need of some advice please. We’re buying a house and in the middle of looking at secondary schools, in the new area, for our daughter (she’ll be starting next year). The deadline to apply is 31 October so very soon.

The solicitors are taking ages to get things moving and we just keep getting more things to sign yet don’t seem to be getting any closer to legally having the house. I know that I’ll need to apply from where we are now if we don’t get contracts signed by the deadline but I am actually wondering if she has no chance of getting into the schools because they will work out distance from this address? (We are moving from one side of London to the other).

if we do by some miracle get the contracts signed & completion date is before the deadline, we won’t have any council tax bills etc for proof of address. All we really would have is the signed TR1 form and the contracts. Has anyone had experience of this? It’s getting me into a right pickle 😩

thank you xx

You only need to have exchanged contracts to apply for school. Even when we did move and had to apppy for school, we didn’t need to submit any proof (though I had the signed contract if they wanted it). When we applied for secondary, we submitted no proof of address.
