Is this dribble/drool rash (spots)?

Visited GP less than a month ago who thought it was some sort of contact dermatitis from LO putting hands in mouth (as he’s dribbling) and then putting them on his face, causing these spots due to PH levels in salvia.

however, it seems to have gotten a little worse. GP said it would come and go and just to keep it dry and not do anything else, which we have been doing.

Wanted to know if everyone else still thinks it’s drool related and what we can do to get rid of it. We do have the dribble defence cream which can act as a barrier

I am not a doctor, but it looks very like perioral dermatitis, which I've had a couple of times.

If so, it can be a right bugger to get rid of. Avoid steroid creams at all costs as they will make it much worse!

The first time I had it, California Baby calendula cream was the only thing that eventually worked.

The second time I had it, it lasted for months. I tried the California Baby cream, every other natural remedy, loads of dietary changes... In the end I gave in and took lymecycline (an antibiotic). Rash cleared up within a week. I had to see out the six week course of antibiotics, which made my skin more sensitive to the sun, but the rash has not returned.

Hmm interesting I’ll have to look into that. It’s frustrating as we’re trying to keep it as dry as possible but perhaps we need to use a barrier cream more?

However the GP was confident it was contact from dribble but if that’s the case I thought it would’ve gone now. But it does sometimes look better and then suddenly worse?

Is it worth me going to GP again do we think?

Just an update: GP said to use an ointment which can act as a barrier and that it could be caused by weather and drooling etc.
