We have read most of the Julia Donaldson books such as The gruffalo, stick man, room on the broom etc. we already have lots of the classics The tiger who came to tea, the very hungry caterpillar, whatever next. Have a couple of newer books eg. Giraffes can't dance.

We have been going to the library and read some really lovely stories but am looking to buy a few more as we only own 15-20.

I'm looking for some with good illustrations that will be suitable for a 4 or 5 years old.

Thank you

I agree with You Choose - brilliant books. Shark in the Park always goes down well at nursery, they are loving Handa's surprise too at the moment. The Girls is a lovely book about friendship. The enormous crocodile by roald Dahl is a good one if you want something a bit longer.
Supertato is a much requested book too.

I get a lot of my children's books from charity shops. Shops like the works often do good sets of book series like Mog the cat or Hairy Maclary.

Winnie the witch books are really good! I always buy sets of books from the works, they're cheaper than amazon etc. Or buy from www.books4people.co.uk/collections/childrens-books?srsltid=AfmBOoqsWkHDlwnDJ1tr5emCgSlcO__RbnYkCAWbZy-170RbA9QIWHzb

One of my favourites is chapati moon, the language is beautiful. I also like the skipping rope snake, again for the poetry. Also, it’s old school, but all of mine liked the Brambly Hedge books. The illustrations are awesome
