Little ones....thoughts?

Hi guys, FTM and I know there are threads on LIttle Ones, but none I could find were recent.
I'm just looking for others' experience. I bought the app and am following it with my 6 month old to try and get him to self settle. Not mad on the crying? I find it really upsetting even though I know I'm not leaving him - he was fed to sleep if not on the stroller so trying one of the gentle approaches to self settling.
At the same time we've moved his room. He had been waking up every hour to be fed which isn't sustainable, but since starting the app (and changing room) he's now back to maybe 2/3 wakes a night. How long does it take them to learn to settle? I'm finding it so hard but I know it'll be important for when I go back to work.
Thank you all so much in advance!

We sleep trained for falling asleep and naps from about 5 months. It took until we dropped to 2 naps at 7 months and he could crawl, sit etc to really crack his sleeping.
Long naps consistently and sleeping through!

My view is that it is outrageously expensive and preys on first time parents who are desperate for their babies to sleep. There are no right or wrong answers and if you don’t feel comfortable letting your baby cry then don’t feel compelled to follow an app. Do what works for you.

I used it and would again, HOWEVER you also need to listen to your baby to determine if something isn't going to work. Eg Little Ones said not to try resettling after a short nap after 8 months old, because baby would get mixed signals and think you were trying to play; my son couldn't be resettled until 9 months and then it worked beautifully if he woke too soon.

They also said upon waking, leave them for a while before going in (to see if baby would nod off again). For my son, this ONLY made him wound up and upset.

It took 3 days for my son to fall asleep without a feed, and several months for him to be totally independant at going to sleep. I think I could have done a better job though - lessons were learned!

So my advice would be make use of the app, but listen to your baby as well.

Thank you all! It's definitely helping in that we're having way more consistent sleep at night this week but yeah.... Don't think I'll be following it religiously. Our daytime naps have been a disaster this week, though if it means sleep at night I'll take it 🙈

I’ve just started using to try to get my 4 month old to self settled but haven’t started that bit yet as I feel like their wake windows are too long?! Don’t know whether to push her to stay awake for how long they say or trust her sleepy queues
