My daughter (second child) is 8.5 months. We have never had any problems breastfeeding but she has never taken a bottle (despite constant attempts) and it became clear pretty quickly once we started weaning onto solids that she was really struggling. She is incredibly interested in food but gags on anything but puree after 2.5 months of weaning.
I have suspected for a while she has a tongue tie - her tongue just looks quite odd and she has never been able to stick it out - and so took her to a private feeding specialist this week who has diagnosed a pretty significant tie and recommended division. I think it’s the right thing to do, I know people can be quite quick to snip these days but we’ve tried multiple other approaches first. The doctor we have been referred to specialises in this and has said she will not have to put her under general anaesthetic (apparently many doctors will do that for older babies).
Has anyone else experienced a late diagnosis and division with an older baby and can share how it went for them?
