She is so red just here in her creases behind legs. It's so red and angry looking but does not seem to be bothering her. She is otherwise fine? 11 weeks old

Looks like a fungal infection . She needs some cream. Regular bathing and making sure it's being dried properly.

PosiePetal · 07/10/2024 15:16

Eczema. I would pop a little Sudocreme on there.

Doubt it's eczema.

It's just where there's been fluid trapped in a little fold. Probably from a bath.

Just make sure you check all creases on a baby after bathing them / feeding - specifically necks, armpits and back of knees. Keep the creases nice and dry at all times and this won't happen

TheShellBeach · 07/10/2024 15:18

Thrush?
Try some clotrimazole cream.

Jadeleigh196 · 07/10/2024 15:18

Doesn't look like eczema as pp said looks like moisture. My daughter got this in her arm pit when we weren't checking or drying properly after bath, and she was still little so dribble was going into it. Keeping on top of it with baby powder did the trick.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 07/10/2024 15:19

Ouch that looks sore. Tbh I'd get a gp to look at it rather than mn as your baby is so young.

Christmastinsel78 · 07/10/2024 15:35

IMO it looks like a fungal infection, as a result of build up of moisture in the creases of her leg. Bath her, and make sure she's dried properly. Ask the pharmacist for advice, on what cream is suitable for a young baby.

ludocris · 07/10/2024 15:36

Looks like intertrigo

widelegenes · 07/10/2024 15:46

If it's not bothering her then I would keep it dry, leave it uncovered as much as possible and wait a little while.
It may well clear up in a matter of hours or overnight. If not, then a trip to the pharmacist so someone can actually see it would be my first port of call.

And awwww. Cute baba legs.

Sanch1 · 07/10/2024 15:48

Like others have said mine used to get this in areas that stayed wet after a bath or from dribble if we'd not been on top of drying properly. Also behind ears, under chin and armpits on occasion. Just used sudocrem until cleared and made extra effort to keep dry.

Hi all thanks for your replies. At the walk in but it's a four an half hour wait!!
The nurse who does obs said it looks like eczema. Now waiting for doctor , tempted to just leave and call my GP tomorrow... but I don't know x

I don't think it's eczema, it looks very sore, I think it looks like a fungal infection. Possibly thrush.

Agree with this.

TheShellBeach · 07/10/2024 17:19

That is thrush.

iremembersnappedandfarted · 07/10/2024 17:28

The defined edges make me edge towards fungal rather than eczema. I would wait it out to be seen as at that age you don't want it infected. You're doing the right thing, OP.

iamawarriorwhojustcrieseasily · 07/10/2024 17:37

Thrush. From damp skin touching skin. I would sit and wait so you get piece of mind and the right cream for overnight, she will be much more comfortable by the morning then :)

imverynosey · 08/10/2024 16:27

Hi all,

I went to GP today who has prescribed some steroid cream , but she thinks it’s a fungal infection xxx
