ds1 is 2.9yrs. He has been sitting on the potty doing wees and poos for a month now (with pull-ups). We decided yesterday to lose the nappies. We had 5 accidents in the morning and 5 different pairs of pants. Lunchtime he pood in the pot. Yesterday afternoon he had a two hour nap and woke up dry. No more accidents yesterday. Nappy at night. He woke with it saturated so he is definitely not ready for no nappy at night.

This morning he walked around for a while with a large poo in his pants. He did not seem bothered by it. He has just done it again and seems completely unfazed by wearing wet or dirty pants. Should I persevere? Any tips? I can't help thinking that is he doesn't mind being wet or dirty then it is only my nagging which will make him do anything in the pot. Thoughts?

Bagpuss - not much chance of getting my second son out of nappies before baby3 arrives - he's 17 months now and will only be 23 months when #3 turns up. Although having said that, he has shown great interest in ds1's potty antics and is fascinated by the potty

dd has just wet her nappy and run up to me screaming "change it!" - maybe there's hope for us yet .

My DD is 2 and a half, I left her with no pants for a few days and the potty right in the middle of our living room, I ask her every 5 minutes, we had few accidents, now we do with pants on and she go and do it, ( with them on ) she seats on the potty, ( main goal ) just need now to teach her pull up and down the pants, to sleep still with nappies on

I started potty training my little one at 18m we failed a couple of times and he just decided himself just after he turned 2 (in Nov) that he wanted to do a wee on the potty and hasn’t stopped since..

However, the first couple of times round we had a lot of accidents…. I made a big thing about how yuck it was to do a wee or a poo in our pants and that our poo and wee wee belong in toilet, if he did have an accident in his pants, I would take him to the toilet and empty the poo into the potty.

I highly recommend the potty training in a weekend book!

Making huge praise whenever he went to the toilet with stickers treats… we’ve not had any accidents at all for three weeks now and he’s been dry through the night

My little one is 2.5 but he's got speech delay so it's a little hard to potty train yet so maybe in the new year for us 🤞🏻🤞🏻 still going to get a potty to sit in the living room to see what he does hopefully might encourage him .he does wake up most mornings with a heavy nappy of wee so not sure if he's ready tbh
