Morning activity basket

Does anyone do a morning basket or activity? I keep thinking of setting one up for my daughter but I'm not sure exactly what I should be doing?

I don't have a tonne of money to be buying new books and activities for everyday so how often do you replace stuff? Do you replace it daily but on a weekly rotation or do I use the same things for a few mornings in a row and then replace it?

Also what kind of things do you include? She'll be 2 next month if that helps

Thank you 🙏

A two year old would be interested in a basket of gubbins: a remote control with the batteries out, odds and ends from the kitchen, assorted fabrics, an old purse with old library cards/club cards in it to investigate etc. Similarly, an old handbag to cart about odds and ends herself. Toddlers love putting things in and out of other things.

Stick a load of random stuff in a basket and then change it out in a fortnight.

Have a little box for treasures and go on nature walks to fill it with nice things. Perfect time of year to fill a box with crisp leaves, conkers, helicopter seeds, nice rocks and so on. Take her to the library and take out books relevant to the seasons. In summer take her to the beach and fill the treasure box with seashells and take out a book about the seaside.

We regularly borrow books and then link it to something. So farm books in spring and a trip to the farm to see the baby animals etc. That sort of thing. We'll be going pumpkin picking in October so we'll borrow books around the theme of harvest and Halloween. Will carve a pumpkin and have a few small pumpkins/squashes out with the books next to them to investigate.

Thank you. I think I've been overthinking it and trying to make it 'fancier' than it needs to be haha
