What age did you stop using a highchair if you don’t have a table?

DD2 is still in her IKEA highchair with footrest but it occurred to me that maybe she is getting too old for a highchair.

However we don’t have a dining table. We have a breakfast bar that we use sometimes, but we often just eat dinner on the sofa in the kitchen.

What age did people move their DD to a children’s table and chairs from a highchair?

Around 2.5 as he would climb out. We had a kids little table and chairs anyway for colouring in before we go rid of the high chair. So it was a gradual move I guess.

DD used to eat breakfast at the coffee table using a toddler chair sometimes from about 1- if you don’t have carpet that could work and you wouldn’t have to make space for a children’s table and chairs. Also if you did want the option of the breakfast bar for family meals then look to replace your stools with ones that have backs and sides so DD will be able to sit on them safely. We eat at the kitchen island way more often than the dining table and we’ve had the youngest sat on the regular stools since ~18 months.

My little boy stopped the high chair around 2 - we live in a very small property and don't have the space for a table he eats up on the sofa with us.

My daughter used a high chair until she was almost three and then only stopped because her baby brother was about to start weaning and needed it. she was probably way to old and could of course use a normal chair in restaurant and other peoples houses but the high chair put her at the perfect height for our dinner table so she was just much more comfortable in it (we didn’t use a tray, just pushed up to the table). Don’t over think it, if she’s happy and comfortable and not climbing out it, crack on until such times as you have a dinner table or equivalent.

I’m fairly certain we still used ours sometimes until 3. It was just an easy way to get them tall enough to reach the table. I’d use it until dd is able to sit safely at the breakfast bar. I don’t think you can be feeding a toddler on a sofa.
