Trapped wind newborn ?

Hi I have a newborn and every time she feeds you can hear tiny air bubbles passing through her stomach.
She cries in pain too and can't settle.
Do we need to see gp ?
Partner seems to think it's reflux but she isn't being sick.
For now can anyone recommend anti wind formula & best bottles for this please?
Thanks

Probably OK. Just make sure to burp properly. Can place propped up to help with this. Can change size of teat hole, as sometimes feed too fast or slowly.

Totally normal. There are various winding holds to help. Various different ways to apply gentle pressure to the stomach. We did the magic hold but there is the tiger hold to. Have a look on you tube for winding holds

Not all reflux produces sick, not all reflux is problematic. There are 5 scenarios for reflux

  1. Happy spitter brings up some milk frequently but doesn't bother them and it doesn't impact weight gain. Just keep plenty of muslins around
  2. Unhappy spitter brings up some milk and they get upset by it. Speak to HV or gp thickening the milk might help
  3. Projectile spitter - happy or unhappy. Might require treatment as more likely to impact weight gain, potentially food allergy
  4. Happy silent refluxer. Brings up milk but swallows it again. Highly unlikely to notice this as a parent at all unless you hear them refluxing. They might be just a baby prone to hiccups
  5. The unhappy silent refluxer. Brings up milk, swallows it again but gets distressed. There's a bit of a continuum between 4 and 5 as they can be mildly unhappy closer to scenario 4 or extremely unhappy and fully in camp 5 where treatment for the reflux is needed and potentially cmpa needs to be considered.

Many people have quite a narrow view of what reflux it's quite broad and the impact it has varies. There was a baby in my NCT group fully in scenario 3 but gained weight brilliantly and was a chilled baby. They just kept her away from soft furnishings! I had a mix of a happy spitter and a very unhappy silent refluxer needing high dose medication to bring it under control and going down the allergy route too.

I'm sorry that you're finding it hard to settle her @cushionstar.

Is she FF now? Which one is she on? And are you using a Perfect Prep?

My newborn was having this same issue, could hear it + see how uncomfortable she was but no actual spit ups.
Tried these anti colic bottle & teats and it helped so much. Hopefully it works for you too. Good luck!
