Can children catch anything from touching a snail and then touching their mouths?

So my son just touched a slug in the garden and before I could grab him to wash his hands he was already touching his mouth. I've washed his hands and mouth now but a bit freaked out of him catching any dangerous bacteria or parasite, particularly because of the story about the boy in Australia that ate a slug, if anyone knows it.

Has anyone's toddler done this and have they been okay?

With dogs it used to be lungworm from licking snails.

Contact the GP just to be sure. I think I heard about something horrible from slugs somewhere, but don't want to stress you.

Probably fine. But I'd be scared if they managed to eat one
