10lbs, 13oz 2nd vba2c best birth, totally natural

oxfordmcboing · 21/04/2008 22:34

any thoughts about if your working or not at time of pregnancy having any relevance to babys size? probably sounds a bit daft and just being nosey but i was working preg with ds1, nurse on busy ward, hardly sat down, had baby, didn't go back to work, staying at home whilst pregnant with ds2 born in feb. so lots of lovely winter food and fairy cake baking every day....do you think with dc3 if i stay off the cakes i will have smaller baby (i mean less then 10lbs) or if your destined to you will just have what you have

dizzydixies · 21/04/2008 22:39

oxford am not sure

with dd1 I had miscarried prior so was frightened to fart frankly and had such awful ms for first 15wks by time that was passed I ate for scotland

with dd2 was swimming/walking eating really healithly as hadn't lost the weight from dd1 and KNEW I couldn't put on similar amount again

I only gained 19lbs when pg with dd2 and she was 11lb1 of it

am sure being active and eating sensibly DOES help but if that IS the case then I am the exception to the rule as I did it the other way round

typical of me to be bloody awkward though

if one more person tells me my body won't grow a baby it can't deliver I will shove a melon up their rear!

With DS I worked till I was 37 weeks, and he was 11 lbs 4. (He was my second child and DD was 2 weeks late so stayed to work longer thinking he would be late too and he was )

With DD I stopped work at 35 weeks and she was 8 lbs so not sure if your theory applies to me...

dizzydixies · 21/04/2008 22:46

my dd2 was late too cece I mean its not as if they had to stay in to grow more

do you mind me asking if you managed or had a cs?

ever had said to you.......

oh thats a bit like building a boat in the back garden and trying to get it through the front door.....

god that sounds vile doesn't it cant remember who said it, actually i may have made it up my self in my panic!

i had a miscarriage at 12 weeks between my two children and was completely shocked and i'm sure i slowed right down and probably some where in my addled brain i thought more padding would protect baby...

dizzydixies · 21/04/2008 22:51

am sorry to hear about your m/c

it really does make you very wary though doesn't it

have had a few complications this time and was on bed rest from 12-24wks (well as much rest as you can get with 2dc) and am now finding it difficult to get back up to some sort of speed now am 26wks

doesn't help that my job isn't particularly active either

am trying to build it up gradually though as I think that 26wks is far too early to be tired/slow already iyswim?

do you enjoy being pregnant?...i'm rubbish from the moment of conception i think! with both pregnancies i kept saying when is the good bit coming when i'm glowing and bustling with energy (not panic stricken and flapping around!)

there was a good 5 to 6 month stretch when i was so exhausted i would go to bed as son as possible and hardly see my husband..

i say i'm so tired cause i make good ones but cant give an advice about being tired from 26 weeks...thinking about how tired i am with two children and factoring in being pregnant is mind bogling...and i should go to bed now!!!!!

Had them both naturally - with DS think they were getting ready to ventouse him as he was in distress but got him out in the end on my own.

Hi there dizzy...Just saw this thread. (Think I qualify with dd 8.14 then ds, 8 yrs later, at 10.4)

Oxfordmcboing, PMSL at your earlier comment "the other thing about having a big baby is all the wincing and ooohing people do and you standing there thnking 'stop thinking about my bits and yes i do plan on having sex again'" So true

Dizzy, I was the same as you, miss piggy in my 1st pg then superfit and healthy on the 2nd. Ds was much bigger even though i ate less, did more. I personally thought that 2nd babies and subsequent were more likely to be bigger than 1st as the womb has adjusted to carrying a pg, unless the body hasn't recovered fully OR a problem with placenta function and related probs happen, unknowingly, during the pg? Just my opinions there, have no hard facts to back me up

dizzydixies · 21/04/2008 23:03

well done you cece - I haven't managed it either times, maybe thats why I want to try this time, who knows

oxford - the m/s and skin complaints caused by very hot summer with dd1 wasn't pleasant

with dd2 it was indigestion but other than that it was ok

this one I've had very heavy bleeding and mild m/s and think the indigestion is about to kick in

so in answer to your question I haven't had two the same and have enjoyed certain parts of it but not others lol

sorry all very non decisive there lol

DS1 was 11lbs 3oz. Needed a bit of an episiotomy to get him out, but did push him out naturally. DS2 was 9lb 10oz and DS3 9lb 9oz both at home. I wouldn't put too much faith in late-ish scans to size the baby as had one at about 37 weeks with DS2 and was told he was average size (which didn't really believe)
