Advice For Boisterous Boy

Our ds turned 3 in June and is such a sweet natured boy, he’s quite grown up for his age in terms of speech and loves being independent like his older sister which we are very much trying to encourage in an age appropriate way of course.
In other ways he’s very much a boys boy, he loves motorbikes and cars, being outside and generally using as much energy outside as possible. He’s had a balance bike since he was two and it’s his pride and joy. He pretends it’s a motorbike and is very proficient on it. So much so we’re thinking of getting him a proper bike for Christmas.
Im in two minds as whilst physically he is ready, I want him to have developed more impulse control to not just go zooming off. Especially when on roads/on way to school.
We found a lovely park with no roads, great paths for cycling and it also has a skate park/dirt mound area for mountain biking. Of course he’s seen that and is totally obsessed. The thing is I know he could likely manage the smaller dirt mounds quite easily but my anxiety obviously kicks in. Has anyone else had a biking obsessed 3 year old with no fear whatsoever who just wants to learn crazy stuff! 3 seems far too small but in reality he’s a very sound rider so any advice would be welcome!!

addition - clearly for his and everyone else’s safety it would be when there is no one else there!!!!

Yeah I'd go for it!!
My son is 2 years 9 months and is the same. He is absolutely wild, no fear what so ever. Runs everywhere. He's adorable but hard work 😅.

DS was like that. He was riding a bike independently at 3. At 16, he'll still ride down anything. DH is is very keen, active and experienced mountain biker and has been taking him out since he was tiny.
Don't discourage physical exercise, especially if you have a relatively safe place to do it. Make sure he wears a helmet. If he falls off, it's all part of the learning process.

When he's a bit older, you could see if you have a Go Ride club near you. Basically the kid's section of a cycling club, accredited to British Cycling.

DS1 did balance bike classes at the local BMX track when he was 2, they were very very popular! He had a full face helmet and everything. There might be something like that near you? He got a pedal bike for his third birthday and was off.

Kids who are good on a balance bike often ride a real bike at about 3.5. We're getting DD one for Christmas when she'll be that age.
