Hand, foot and mouth

My two year old had a very high temperature on Monday and a couple of pinprick red dots on the inside of his lips. By Tuesday he had the rash/blisters around his mouth. It is now day 5 and he is still developing more blisters and red spots on hands/feet/face and now all over his legs. From reading online the spots should be settling down by now and starting to improve. Can this be normal for more to develop from day 5 onwards? Also is it very likely that we (parents) and sibling will develop hfm? When would we typically start developing symptoms if we were to catch it? Thanks!

Yes, that happened to my DD, but she seemed much more comfortable from around that time too. There's some really nasty strains about.

My husband caught it too, and his synptoms started around a week after.

I caught hand, foot and mouth from GD. I felt as if I was getting the flu and had at least ten mouth ulcers. It was very unpleasant. Best wishes to anyone who has it.

Thanks! He is definitely not as miserable as he was at the start of the week with the high temp etc. He just keeps saying finger/knee sore where the blisters are very red. Hopefully they will start going down in the next day or so. It is bad enough with him having it I don’t think I will cope if the rest of us catch it 🙈
