DS hates the raincover on his stroller

DS is 2 years old and absolutely will not suffer the rain cover on his stroller. He needs to sit in it at least twice a day for school runs and when it's raining I just pop him in head to toe waterproofs and put the hood over. I live in a very windy, cold and rainy part of the country and now the weather is starting to turn with winter coming I'm wondering if there's something else I might be missing - maybe like a toddler waterproof footmuff or something? I did a Google search and came across this;

Has anyone every used one for a toddler? Is there something better? I don't mind dressing DS in warm waterproof gear but when it's raining it makes the inside of the stroller absolutely soaking and it just is one of those little things that makes the day a bit harder. We have a joie stroller btw. Any other words of wisdom welcome!

Footmuff and let them hold an umbrella/put the hood up was what we did.

Our solution was a scooter and a little rucksack so I could both push her from the shoulders and use the rucksack handle as a brake. Possibly not for you if he's otherwise happy in the buggy and you need the basket, but it did solve the sopping wet buggy problem, and it's easier to manage when really windy as well.

Watching for suggestions as I have the same problem with my 2 year old!

Mine hated the cover too - I either gave them a small umbrella (which they absolutely loved!) or planned to double my journey time with some puddle jumping - as long as I had a warm change of clothes for them afterwards.

All mine hated the cover.Didn't have a choice. My decision.
If going for a walk, the zoo or playgrounds I dressed them in rain gear and no cover.

Sounds very normal - both my DS hated theirs too, DS1 actually stuck his fingers in the vent holes and ripped his to shreds. They were both happy to sit there in the pouring rain and get wet so I let them! They wore waterproof suits so they were fine!

They are 5 and 8 now and hate getting wet but get regularly reminded how this wasn't always the case!

DD didn't like her plastic one so got her a universal one which was more fabric than plastic and she preferred that

We had a waterproof muff thing, it was really good but one of mine absolutely hated it.

I ended up swapping (not specifically for this reason) to a baby jogger GT. Has a really big hood, so if toddler folds their legs they’re kept pretty dry.

Mine has always hated the rain cover and has never tolerated it. We had a footmuff for the colder weather and then just used the hood of the pram, which he also hated but would usually allow while it was actually raining.

We’ve got three different prams and he hates the rain cover on all of them, I don’t think he likes feeling trapped!

My kids were both like this between age of about 18m and 2.5. I just cracked on, they either got bored of screaming and/or fell asleep each time. I don't drive and live in a very rainy place. They both outgrew it as well and then appreciated being dry when they had more understanding.

I just ride the tantrum out. It’s raining, the cover needs to be on and that’s that. He stops crying eventually and now mostly accepts it.
