Hi

Which potty should i buy? am i best going for cheap and cheerful and a few of them, or an all singing all dancing 30 pound one which pretend-flushes and can be used as a stool etc too?? do these actually help with potty training?

thanks

I have been potty training for just over a week and my only advice would be to try and get something padded if you can - my DD has a simple mothercare unpaddded one which she says hurts her bottom. She is much happier in her padded toilet insert instead. I hope it goes well for you

Padded or a throne!! Simple potties leave big rred marks on dd's bottom and are too small to sit on. Our tkmaxx has a lovely one like a mini toilet. it cured dd's toilet training phobia.

We tried lots with ds and the one that was successful in the end was a potty chair like this one from mothercare: www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000TJDOP0/sr=1-6/qid=1208719438/ref=sr_1_6/202-8244880-4178208?ie=UTF 8&mcb=core

i completely agree with franmay. our dd seems to like this better than the usual ones as it is more like a shair. good luck.

Thanks Looby, nice to have someone agreeing with me! Our potty chair is so successful though that a year on ds1 won't consider weeing standing up in our house (though he can easily do this when we're out and about)! I would say, for a boy esp, (not sure if it's for a boy or a girl) avoid one that is too constricting. We had a mini toilet style one and ds couldn't get his willy inside it easily enough, so wee everywhere!! Good luck!

sounds like fun, we dont have that to worry about though as we only have dd! sure she will manage to make some kind of mess though, she does with everything else!!

I really like the Baby bjorn chair one with DS as he's quite big and can't fit his necessary bits into the normal ones.

Potty chair £12 from Mothercare -definitely worked best for us. Really easy to clean, no fancy bits and does the job no pun intended!
