My 14 week old will break her neck to look at the tele if it's on so now I turn it off if she is in the room as I know it's not suppose to be good for them, just wondering what others do ? I haven't watch any tele in a good 2 months ... not that I have the time anyway

Do you have it on during the day? A baby will be attracted to movement and colours.
Why not watch when baby goes to bed at night?

No. We watch it once they’re asleep.

I used to have the radio on as background noise and telly on later on in the day. Ds didn't watch anything child specific until he was about 2 then wasn't interested, which really cheesed me off as I was hoping for some peace and quiet 😉

I used to watch TV during the day on maternity leave, usually when my babies were asleep in the carrier but sometimes they would be awake and turn their heads to look at it.

We almost never have the TV on during the day now they are toddlers.

A couple times when I did have the tv on, my baby did the same so I just used to listen to podcasts/youtube documentaries etc during the day, and put the tv on when he was napping :)

Mine is 2 now and we do sometimes watch TV together like a disney film or whatever, or I put thomas the tank on for him while I run a bath/make dinner etc. If I want to watch something for myself I usually wait til he's asleep, or I put it on with no sound but subtitles. He finds that boring if it's an adult show and gets on with playing.

Because the only way I can get her to sleep is on top of me and the tele wakes her up.

Subtitles?

Snowdrops17 · 20/09/2024 10:37

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor yeah I have done subtitles but she is such a bad sleeper that most of the time I'm too worried I'll wake her

I have a 2yo grandson. At my daughter's house they have CBeebies on all day every day when he's awake. If he's in his highchair, he's gawping around and not concentrating on his food in order to see the telly. He doesn't really engage in playing with his many toys - he'll "play" with them while watching the screen.

I find it concerning but OH says to mind my own business.
