Hand foot and mouth

My little one currently has hand foot and mouth, the spots can out 2 days ago, he hasn't really went off his food but will not take a bottle I'm guessing due to the ulcers in his mouth! We are alternating between calpol and ibuprofen as advised by the GP. He's cheery enough in himself during the day until it comes to time to sleep where he is just screaming he usually has a bottle to go to sleep with so I'm guessing this has something to do with it but on a night time once he is asleep he will sleep a good 4 hours then wake up screaming and is very hard to settle back to sleep has been up 1.5/2 hours the past couple of nights as just would not settle. Has any one else experienced this and how long does it usually last? Will it be due to the spots in his mouth?

Urgh sympathies. My kids have had it loads of times and one did have a rough time with spots in her mouth on one dose of it. Can you see any?

I can't actually remember how long it lasted but I don't think it was too long. How old is he? I remember the pharmacist recommending ice pops.

If he's eating and drinking ok during the day hopefully it means he doesn't have it too badly. Maybe a spot in the wrong place for the bottle. Have you tried offering his milk in a cup to see if he'll take that?

We've just had it for the second time in four months. Both times the worst was over by day three, spots lasted weeks but the mouth healed much quicker.

Absolutely try milk in an open cup, or a bottle with a faster flowing teat.
