There’s one on either side of the seat but only one of them has M on it. What does it do?

Ejects the seat out of the car? 🤭

GreenTemple · 12/09/2024 07:57

No, it’s not that!

Well, yes! They seem to do absolutely nothing!

Hopefully someone who has a Cosatto car seat will be along soon…!

It looks like the button which releases the mechanism to take it off the pushchair frame - that is usually in that place.

I wonder if M means Master/Main or something so you only need to press one at a time.

I think you are right, I don't use it on the pram very often but I'm sure it's that.

Does anyone know if you leave the handle up or back when driving in the car?

You were right in what it does but we find you have to press both at the same time, which is a right pain.

Always up! It’s an integral part of the safety design. Ditto the hood - always pulled forwards.

Great thanks. The only issue with the hood is that you then can't see the baby to check if they are OK, but I suppose not worth the risk.

I struggling with when to take out the newborn insert ( the head bit not the whole piece) as my baby is 15 weeks ok but already 64cm. So I should take it out but then her head isn't supported - any advice?

GreenTemple · 14/01/2025 11:12

I have a mirror set up on the head rest so I can see into the car seat when I’m driving, would that be possible for your car?

Can I ask why you think you need to take the head insert out? DS is a similar age but nowhere near 76cm or 13kg, so we have pulled the headrest up as in this diagram to make the headpiece fit.

I do think the instruction manual isn’t anywhere near as clear as it could be!

So we have a mirror on the headrest too, but if the hood was pulled forward as suggested it would obscure her face. Do you only partially pull it forward?

I read in the manual that head bit should be removed when they get to 60cm (see below)

But agree your image says different!

That's just because they are two different seats :) The one in the OP is an infant carrier for approx 0-15 months, and the one in the later manual pic is one of the All in All ones I think? It's a fixed type seat which stays in the car and lasts longer.

But - I am a bit confused because you are talking about using it on a pram and you wouldn't be able to use the big fixed seats on a pram. And they don't have a carry handle.

Have you perhaps got the manual mixed up with another seat you have for an older child?

BertieBotts · 14/01/2025 15:51

WRT the handle and hood, in the Cosatto Acorn manual, which is the image GreenTemple posted, it says that the handle must be upright but it doesn't matter what position the hood is in - you can have the hood down if you like.

GreenTemple · 02/02/2025 00:04

Well after some more Googling I found the answer - M stands for ‘memory’ button so you press that first and then press the other one. That was you can release the car seat from the chassis without the need for two people… which is how we’ve been doing it for the last four months…!

Believe it or not this information is nowhere to be seen in the manual!
