Having a nightmare with joggers for my little boy for nursery. Does anyone know the best place to buy them. Got slim fitting ones age 3 from next even with tying the cord on the waist band they still fall down. Cant pull the cord any tighter cos he needs to be able to still be able to go the toilet on his own. Hes slim but tall so if I got the size down they would fit on the waist but be half way up his legs.

Have you tried the skinny ones from Next? They give you the option of regular, slim or skinny and I wonder if they might suit him better. Primark do some slim ones too and I always found they came up quite small for my son.

Do they have to be joggers? I find leggings fit my skinny one better than joggers. She is a girl though, not sure if boys ranges have leggings?? I saw multipacks in dark colours in Tesco last week.

I found Primark joggers fitted her better than Tesco.

I hear you, blooming nightmare. I found that H&M came up slimmer than the supermarket brands.

Just going to suggest H&M

Try ones in the size down but in extra long. M&S sometimes do this.

I got adept at taking an inch or two in at the sides or replacing the rubbish drawstring with elastic.

Girls leggings are better than joggers in my experience as the mum of a skinny boy.

Next do extra leg length joggers too.

not helpful for you OP but I make joggers for my skinny tallish boy. he has the waist elastic measurement of a 2 or 3 yo.

pp has a good suggestion of replacing drawstring with elastic - use a safety pin 🧷 , attach the elastic to it, then use that to guide it through the drawstring channel, then tie or stitch the ends together.

Decathlon joggers are lovely. Really soft and cosy and great for skinny kids. Not much choice in colours, but they are our favourites.

Lindex joggers the leg length is longer, so you can size down (DS is tall) , also would he wear leggings? Lindex do them with brushed cotton insides and some that also have a reinforced knee (great for nursery)

I am still struggling with this. At 4 yo we used to buy Decathlon, Vertbaudet (who do some trousers by waist size) and where ever I could find anything with the narrow waist. Slim does not aways work, because it is usually about the width of the leg rather than waist.
The main advice - if you find something that suits, buy the same item in the next size or two, because the retailer would change the item next year/season. We had three sizes of one particular joggers type from John Lewis (not there anymore), a couple from Next. Sometimes you get something suitable - just stock up. For us this problem did not go away, with school trousers being a particular pain. I have discovered Amazon for all elastic school trousers up to the age of 9.

Absolutely Lindex. Their joggers have an elastic waist with buttons inside so you can adjust it to fit but it's still stretchy so they can pull them up and down to go to the loo. I have a tall skinny boy and they're a lifesaver. We have some of their leggings and joggers and they both have the adjustable waist. Most other trousers that fit the leg fall down.

Gap

Tu do packs of 5 ribbed leggings for boys, as an alternative to joggers. They're a nice slim fit.
