Bed wetting alarm - tell me your positive stories

DD is 7, never been dry. Tried without pull ups about once every six months since she was 4 but never with any success, and with working etc it's hard to keep up with the washing so we kept going back. I just kept thinking give her more time but now she's in Y3.
Last week we had 4 dry days in a row so I thought this is it.
Trying again. Popped into check on her when I had a wee myself just now and she's already wet. I had to wake her and change the sheets and duvets and everything. And I suspect she'll wet one more time before the morning. And it takes her ages to get back to sleep once woken.
I think might have to try an alarm. They sound so distressing. Is it worth it?

We had good and quick success with the wireless alarm from Eric.

sorry forgot to say it was not distressing at all. DC woke me up when the alarm went off for the first few nights then managed it alone easily after that. We used the sensor in a pantyliner and with a pull up altogether. Very easy to manage. DC would not tolerate the clip on one we were given by the clinic so we bought the wireless one. Worth every penny.

So you can use pull ups with the alarm? That sounds helpful

We used one it worked a treat. Although don't do what we did. The alarm says to use continuously for so many weeks. We'll we were dry by week 2, so we packed it up. Que back to square one . Needless to say, the second time, we did the full number of weeks.
We used the one from Eric website.
It's been about 18 months / 2 years ( DS is 9), and we only had 1 accident since, and that was when he was ill so understandable.
Good luck.

Wish it worked for us. I had one with this issue and when the alarm went off they (in their sleep) immediately ripped it out of the pantyliner, tossed it, and kept on sleeping in their wee sodden stuff.
The next stage, as worked through with a hospital continence clinic would probably be deemed abusive by the good folk of Mumsnet so I won’t detail (and I don’t answer PM’s).

Worked with my 8 year old in a few days although we kept it in for about 2 week. From wetting every night, sometimes twice he’s now wet maybe 4 times in a year.
Those times were busy times, holidays etc.

Used on my 5 year old and was dry in 2 weeks and never wet since.

We did pants, alarm and pull up

Worked like a charm and we had tried absolutely everything else.

My sister would sleep through the alarm and everyone else in the house would get up for a weewee. Mind you that was about 58 years ago and perhaps things have changed now.

Thank you! This all sounds good.

I'm going to speak to the GP next week (I want to log it with her due to other developmental issues I want to discuss alongside) but will look up the one ERIC recommends and give it a go

Yes it was great. I’m not interested in having to strip the bed at 2am! My DC had like yours never been dry. We had tried all of the good bladder management advice with when and what to drink but DC was a very deep sleeper. DC was motivated to get dry and the alarm really helped to achieve this. DC has gone from full pull up every morning to zero bed wetting accidents.
