i have read the reviews on the mothercare website but part of me is suspecting that its mothercare giving their product a good review lol

anyone using these? i am particually interested because i wanted to use the disposable inserts for when we are out and about as carrying soiled nappys around is not an option as we are often out the house for 6-8 hours at a time, and with the summer coming up i really dont fancy smelling like poo!

so all you mums out there... give me the lo down!

I did have a look at this mothercare system but it seemed expensive for whats basically a pre-fold system with the option of something disposable for the nappy part.

We use mainly washable shaped nappies with separate cover, but for out and about if I want something disposable I just use a disposable nappy.

Have you tried using fleece AND paper liners? If it's a poo, you can throw the fleece liner out too, and I always flush the nappy as I would at home (i.e. rinse it out in the toilet), so that stops it smelling so much. The doubling up means there is very little on the nappy itself.

Like flibberty, I jsut use disposible if I really don't want to be carrying used nappies.

You could also double up the nappy bag, or bag them in disposible nappy bags and then put in the wet nappy bag...

Isn't the mothercare system a bit like Weenees? I've heard good things about Weenees so if the Mothercare system is very similar then may be worth trying.

NattyEarthMother · 20/04/2008 23:56

thank you for that, they are exactly like weenees only cheaper (£11 for WN and £6 for MC) and the inner dosent actually popper out it is fixed. of course they only come in white, and weenees come in colours but other then that there seems little differance. i am quite sold by the idea of the poppers, and may invest in a few!

not seen them before, this was very useful thank you!

We use totsbots with flushable inserts for out and about, with a washable drawstring bag made for wet nappies. When I had two in cloth, I often used the nature babies nappies with their starch bags, and still do if I'm out all day. I don't really rate the buy all at once prefold systems- they are very expensive and you've blown all you nappy budget in one go. I would suggest getting a few different types of nappy and see which works best for you.

I have a couple of the MC smart nappies, bought as they were slimmer/smaller than the Fluffles that I normally use; I thought it would be good for out and about trips.

I haven't been impressed. I find that they can leak- so I ended up putting a motherease airflow wrap over the top- they seemed to wick moisture- maybe I was a bad mother and didn't change quickly enough. And if it is a dirty nappy then the wrap ended up covered (much more so than in a 2 part system) so you would end up needing to rinse that and carry around a spare or 2.

I have to confess to uses disposables when I am out and about for long as FLuffles are too bulky to carry around, although I have bought some slimmer nappies now that DD is in size 2s

thank you wakeupeverybody that was a useful comment, we have actually switched to these now and have found u do have to put a boster pad in them if u plan on changing them more than every 2 hours.
however this is only a problem with my son, as my daughter dosent seem to have any trouble with the normal pads
suppose it is down to the individual?
also with the poo we found doubling up the liners stops the wrap covers getting any on them.

thanks for all your comments

less than every two hours
