Hi mums and dads
a piece of advice please . I have a lovely 18M DD who’s has been a bit problematic with food . I will go straight to the problem . She seems to rely on me all the time to feed her but she can self feed finger food and fruits , fish cakes . She eats everything that we prepare for her but has never taken the initiative for the main course . She can use a fork but hasn’t got a lot of interest in that . I thought , at first , she didn’t like getting messy , but she adores messy play with paint , sand and water and has no problem getting messy with fish cakes full of melty cheese or kiwi , sausages etc , but won’t touch pasta
anyone with a similar toddler ? ☺️

Are you offering things she can actually feed herself? She won’t be able to use a fork at 18 months really (maybe a spoon for yoghurt or porridge). Her meal will need to be things she can pick up with her hands. Give her a mix of things you know she will eat and new things. And then just leave her to it. Don’t feed her. She will get the hang of it in time.

Just give her food cut and served appropriately for her age and leave her to it. Don't overload her plate, give her tiny amounts at a time and she can have more if she wants. Feed her what you're eating and leave her to it. Solid starts app is good for help serving food to minimise choking risk.
