I’m no expert as I only used formula for a couple of months from 10 months to wean off breastfeeding. I used to make one up according to the instructions and then plunge into a large bowl of cold water and swirled it around until it came down in temperature.

I didn’t think it was recommended to pre-make them and store them in the fridge so I didn’t risk it.

We used a Perfect Prep, but when she was dropping feeds and I was wanting more kitchen counter room, I bought a Bosch kettle, which you can set to various temperatures, so I'd put it on at 70 degrees and then use that for the first ounce (so equivalent of the hot shot) or so and then top up with cold water so that it was ready to drink pretty much immediately.

One with hot boiled water

One with cold previously boiled water

And make up feeds that way so own perfect prep

That how I often make feeds up and I'm a maternity nurse

It's roughly 1/3 hot /cold water

So for a 4oz bottle 1 oz hot. Add 4 scoops - swirl and then add 3 oz of the cool boiled water

Or 6oz - 2 oz hot. 6 scoops. Swirl and add 4oz prev boiled cold water

I use a perfect prep generally but if not then I make in advance, rapid cool and store in the back of the fridge. WHO says this is the second safest way after making them fresh.

Made 6 a day and stored in the fridge. Take out about an hour before needed to get to room temp.

When I had DD the advice was that is was ok to make 6 at a time. Boil water, cools lightly and add to bottles, add powder, shake and then stick in fridge, Microwave as needed.
By the time I had DS you weren't supposed to do that but I did and it was fine

I've used the NUBY Rapid Cools since birth. Absolute game changer, you know the water is boiling to kill bacteria that lives in the powder and it cools down to drinkable temperature. Also super easy to do out and about & during night!

Now baby is older I do a hot shot method with roughly a 1/3rd boiling water then cool down the rest in the NUBY. It's ready to feed within a couple of mins.

Perfect Prep aren't NHS recommended and there has been a study recently regarding the hot shot not being a hot enough temp to kill bacteria in powder (above 70degrees). Also evidence of mould building up in the tubing etc.

I use the hot shot method with nuby rapid cool for every bottle . Fill the flask at night and have it all on the locker ready to be made up
