Potty training at nursery

Hey, we have started potty training with our little one and in 2 weeks nursery is about to start. Later is fine with children who aren’t (or aren’t fully) trained. How should we deal with the nursery and the training, as the little one won’t wear underwear yet at this training stage. Welcoming any suggestions!

It doesn’t take two weeks to potty train
I would keep them
off nursery for a full week and get it done at home.
No pull ups , only pants or bare bum and get it done .
It’s not the nursery responsibility to “ start” they can support but it should be mostly done at home .

2 weeks is a long time to still be bare- I thought the general consensus was to reasonably quickly move into underwear otherwise they can struggle with it having learnt to be naked. However I'm not an expert at all. We started potty training on Saturday with just pants on, he wore shorts and pants yesterday at home, and went to nursery today with shorts and pants. I tried naked a few months ago but he wasn't ready and my health visitor advised to start in pants as the wet feeling can help them learn, rather than being immediately on the floor etc.
I think you should practice at home in clothes then send to nursery.

Edited

Should have be more precise: we will train at home for a week, but from what we have read wearing underwear may take longer than 1-2 weeks and may not be done with the nursery start.

CM here, please just go straight from nappies/pull ups into pants while TTing. Kids get it much quicker this way IME. Those who train bare bum take much longer to transition into pants afterwards & it's just not practical or appropriate to have bare bum kids wandering around any childcare setting. If a child is ready to TT it really should just take less than a week to be pretty much sorted.

Get him in pants now, 2 weeks is plenty of time.

I did pants free for a week and then pants for a week and he got it. They're all different - some get it faster than others. Either way expect accidents at nursery anyway because it's new and exciting and easy to get distracted

We did bare bum for 2 days, any longer than that and we would have had cabin fever having to stay home. Had one or two accidents, then was done in 4 days overall. Don't overthink it, go for it

Just crack on with it. We always went straight into pants. First one, we did have a week off from nursery. Second one, nursery asked us just to send him in as normal with a million changes of clothes.

Chances are they pretty much always have a child in some stage of toilet training. They are experts at this and will crack on as they know what to do. Just send like 8 changes of clothes and a bag for wet clothes.
