Very suprised when gp told me dd (2 weeks off 7) is still quite young to have nighttime nappiestting the bed

I've lived in hope that dd would become dry at night with time. Be a small issue for dd for about a year now. But become bigger as they are having a campout at school in the summer, plus her friends are starting to talk about sleepovers.
Took her to the doctor and we seen to have got the wheel in motion when the doctor turned round and said 'mind she is still quite young we may have to wait and see if she becomes dry on her own'.
I could have sreamed we've been waiting till she was 7 before I went but seeing as her birthday is in 2 weeks time I though we would go.

DS has just recently (last 3 weeks) become totally dry at night. He's 8.5. DD1 has just turned 3 and she's dry at night now for the past 2-3 weeks too.

Sorry 'nappiestting the bed' was meant to read nappies.

I think that while most children are dry at night by 7, it is not uncommon for them to be older. One of my ds's who is nearly 7 has only been dry recently - and still has the odd accident esp if he is tired. My dd in Yr 6 is going on a school trip recently and parents were asked to let the teacher know in confidence if there were any bedwetting issues so it could be dealt with discreetly - so obviously not unusual in 11 year olds either!

Hi lexcat - I don't know if you will see this as the thread is a month old now, but I'm brand new and browsing potty-training issues. I just thought I'd tell you my friend, who has 3 children not consistently dry at night, has mentioned a tablet you can take - not to use all the time but for one-offs eg camps - which seems to work well.
