10 week old on 6oz bottles

My little girl has mild mild reflux. Sometimes she's sick, sometimes she's not. Sometimes it's big amounts, sometimes it's small.

But she's been draining 5oz bottles and just not being content. So I've put her on 6oz bottles now and she's drinking them. I feel on demand still. So if she drank a whole 6oz but wanted another bottle 2/3 hours later I'll give it to her. But she's got herself in a routine now that she's going dead on every 4 hours for a bottle. But my concern is, she's not getting enough bottles in the day. I'd say she's currently have 5 bottles from 7am when she wakes up and till 10pm when she goes to sleep and she'll sleep from 10pm till 6:30/7am and doesn't wake.

Does this sound okay? I'm a bit worried

Sounds like a pretty normal schedule for a formula fed baby. Most feed every 3-4 hours, she’s on the less frequent end of that and as a result is taking bigger feeds. She wouldn’t sleep through if she wasn’t getting what she needed. Sometimes bringing a bit of milk up after a feed is also very normal. My DD at 10 weeks old was actually as you’ve described and she’s now a healthy 7YO. So no I wouldn’t be worried about anything you’ve said so long as weight gain is all on track.

Is she weeing and pooing and gaining weight appropriately? If yes, she’s fine. So long as nothing changes on those fronts I’d keep following her lead and don’t worry about what the formula packet says

She is. Wet nappies. Has 2/3 poos a day. She's had 2 poos today before 11am😂 she's in the 50th percentile and has stayed in that in all her checks. She has her next weigh in, in 2 weeks also

There’s your answer then, nowt to

My 11 week old if I'm lucky takes 4oz sometimes 3oz sometimes only 2oz I would be delighted if she was taking what your 10 week old is but I'm not worried about her she is gaining weight and a happy little thing don't think you have anything to be worried about

Given the reflux I would be wary about increasing the volume they are drinking. Reflux triggers babies to overfeed as feeding soothes the reflux but it also triggers it so they want more and can get quite desperate about it. During one reflux flare up my daughter went from drinking 5-10oz over night to 20-25+Oz and desperate for more like she hadn't been fed in a week. We had to be strict about the volume she had and with an increase in reflux meds we got her back on reasonable amount.

If they are drinking bigger bottles but content, gaining weight with plenty of wet and dirty nappies I wouldn't worry. If they are draining bottles and wanting bottles soon afterwards it could be that there reflux needs looking at. Being happy to go longer between feeds might be a sign that the reflux isn't causing them as much discomfort as it was.

My first daughter was exactly like this. She never took anymore than 5oz. But with cows milk she'd chug the whole 4 pint if I let her

This is really helpful, thank you. She's happily going 3 and a half 4 hours. If she's having a good sleep like yesterday afternoon she nearly went 5 hours. Her sickness has improved also, it's not as bad. But still there, just small amounts
