Biting shoulder or top of arm when excited

My 11.5 month old boy has taken to biting my shoulder or arm all the time when he's excited. It's like he's using it to get some of his excitement out. He does this when I'm holding him and bites down on my shoulder and squeals with excitement. Is this normal baby/toddler behaviour ?

Yes i think so. Just say ow and move him away or distract him before he does it

I'd say normal, yes. Though it's really frustrating. If he's still doing past toddler years then you might need to worry but at the moment he just has limited communication.

My 2 year old bites out of anger. But interestingly he only does it to me or his sibling. Never to his Dad or anyone at nursery, hopefully that's a good thing.

Thanks I'll try that. I think he likes the feeling on his teeth as he's particularly teethy at the moment !

It's very frustrating and I worry it's almost become a habit of his x

Yes my little girl has done this a few times. I find it quite sweet tbh but she doesn't bite hard. If he's hurting you then try and intervene before he gets the chomp in! Nothing to worry about behaviourally though x
