Just having a clear out of the DC play room to make room for some new birthday toys.

At what age did your DC stop bothering with board books? Eg. That’s not my…, Where’s Mr…., Spot etc.

i’m thinking about 2.5?

Ours went "away" (top shelf) before 2.5, but came back out again when they were learning to read

Eldest is coming up 5 (starting school in September), and still enjoys them. We'll be keeping them around until DC2 grows out of them. Which by the sounds of it will be around when he learns how to read.

The ones with actual sentences and a story to them, not just a word and some pictures, I still sometimes read with my now 6 year old.

AnyFucker · 25/08/2024 22:13

Mine came back around 20 odd years later for the grandchildren 😊

Marcipex · 25/08/2024 22:19

Keep a few, they love them for a long time.

Ohmych · 26/08/2024 07:49

My daughter loved them until she was 6. I would keep them.

InTheRainOnATrain · 26/08/2024 08:09

18 months-ish. As soon as they could request their choice of story they never got a look in. We did still had them in the house when DD was in reception for baby DS and there was absolutely no interest in reading them herself, she had 3-4 books a week from school so that kept her busy!

Autumn1990 · 26/08/2024 08:16

My year 2 likes reading them to my youngest. Neither of them like a long story.

Sweetteaplease · 26/08/2024 08:22

Keep them, they'll come in handy when they start to read and they often like revisiting them too

BertieBotts · 26/08/2024 08:25

If you want to get rid of them, it's fine. My kids didn't bother with them past about 2.5 - 3 ish.

BertieBotts · 26/08/2024 08:25

I did keep a couple of favourites for sentimental reasons.

How lovely. It's one of my favourite things to get out my own childhood books and toys from grandparents and play with my children. My MIL is fantastic at keeping things so some of the toys my children play with at her house are 50 years old. It brings us all joy.
