Just wondering if anyone's baby has gone from blonde to ginger ? I can't believe how blonde he was when he was born, then it all fell out and came back quite gingery

Just wondering if it will go back blonde or stay ginger?

I can't lie I do miss his bright blonde hair ☹️

No but my dd was born with almost black hair which fell out and went blonde.

My father was born with blonde hair and then it turned black. I didn't believe it until I saw photos!

OneBigToDoList · 21/08/2024 22:09

Yes mine was born with dark hair which went blonde really quick! Then fell out, came back strawberry blond and he’s now ridiculously blond again

My redhaired daughter was blonde until around
8/9 months. Now adult she has long curly luscious deep red hair that is the envy of everyone who looks at her. People stare at her as she’s walking down the street.
Celebrate your baby’s new improved hair!

Itsagrandoldteam · 21/08/2024 22:13

Mine was the opposite, he was born with ginger hair, no surprise because I have ginger hair, it fell out and then came back blonde. He has stayed blonde.

Cattenberg · 21/08/2024 22:13

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to hair colour. My friend’s three-year-old was born with black hair and has since tried out brown, blond and strawberry blond. It remains to be seen which one he’ll settle with.

Rory17384949 · 21/08/2024 22:13

Yeah my brother's did

Both my DDs were born with dark hair and are now blonde

RubieChewsDay · 21/08/2024 22:47

I have 3 DCs, all born with full heads of hair, two brown and one black, all bald within a month and now all have hair about one shade lighter than they started with.

Overtheatlantic · 21/08/2024 22:53

Why do you miss his bright blond hair? Surely darker hair is nicer?

SansaClegane · 21/08/2024 22:56

Had the other way around with one of mine, born ginger & then it fell out and came back platinum blonde. He's still blond now at 13, albeit a slightly darker, more golden shade.
I think it's usually the colour that comes after a few months which is their "real" one 🤷‍♀️

TomatoSandwiches · 21/08/2024 22:56

Ginger/red hair is fab imo.

2 of mine had very fine short blonde hair that you couldn't even see unless the light was on them and then they grew very curly white hair, my third was born with a massive amount of strawberry blonde hair, like Japanese babies have, the midwives used to fight over who got to wash him and brush his hair 😂

TheBirdintheCave · 21/08/2024 23:58

My son was born with ginger hair but is a blondie now. His hair still has strawberry undertones though!

My daughter is 13 weeks old and was born with dark hair. It's now all falling out and is growing back so blonde you can barely see it. I'm excited to see what colour she ends up!

Husband and I are both dark haired 🤷🏻‍♀️ Genetics are fun 😂

CatchHimDerry · 22/08/2024 00:01

Mine’s the same as @Itsagrandoldteam he was a gingey and now he’s very blonde

I was quite sad, his name in our language means “Fox” and I used to joke he’d come out a little red head and lo and behold he suited his name.

Now I love his little blonde curls instead

SleepEatSnoozeRepeat · 22/08/2024 00:03

Ds was ginger when born, which turned to a mid brown by age 2. He never had the falling out phase, it just changed gradually.
DD was very dark when born, rubbed it all off while wriggling around her cot, and it grew back mid brown.
They are now matching in colour, although dd’s is dead straight and ds is curly. Same colour hair as me.
Hair is weird.

YouveGotAFastCar · 22/08/2024 00:26

My son was the opposite; born with ginger-y hair, grew very ginger hair that turned strawberry blonde, and now at 2.5 it’s very blonde, and people keep commenting on how blonde it is.

Hair is a strange thing, you never know what they’ll end up like!

jellycat · 22/08/2024 00:30

Mine were both quite dark at birth and both went ginger then blonde (very light blonde)! DH is blonde and I have reddish brown hair. Both are now adults; ds1 is dark mousey blonde but ds2 strawberry blonde.

How randomly rude!! Why is darker hair 'nicer'?! That's really unkind, every one has different hair and different preferences, you can't just unilaterally state that darker is nicer. You could say you prefer it, fine. Both mine were light blonde kids and I wouldn't ever think 'oh I wish they were darker, that would be nicer'.

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 22/08/2024 00:35

I think the second colour is usually what sticks but DS had very dark nearly black hair when born, never fell out but got lighter until straw blond & stayed that way until about 4 yrs old when it got darker & darker again - has stayed very dark brown

he's a teen now & can not imagine him with light hair, his dark hair is beautiful & matches his eyes - I'm sure you'll feel the same about the colour your baby's hair sticks at 💐

Rycbar · 22/08/2024 00:49

I was born with very white blonde hair. It went ginger then dark. I have brown hair now with a red tinge if the sun shines on it.
My husband has white blonde still in his 30s although that’s quite rare!

DitchTheDodo · 22/08/2024 11:21

My daughter was born with dark hair that turned gingery when she was a couple of months old. Then it all fell out and now she is very blonde. I imagine it will darken over the years as I am dark blonde and DH is very dark hair/olive skin.

Same for DS. He had very spiky black hair at birth which was replaced by blonde hair of a completely different texture at about four months. (Aged 12, it has darkened, but is fabulously thick and glossy, and he gets fair glints in sunny summer weather.)

Augustisnearlydonesogoodbyesun · 22/08/2024 11:25

My dd's was mousey colour.. One morning I actually thought her db's had coloured her eye brows with orange pen!! Ginger streaks grew unit her hair. It was stunning for years.... Until she hit a goth phase.... Devastated.... Ginger hair is fab!

Enko · 22/08/2024 11:26

Dd2 came.out with blonde hair that turned ginger. She is now 20 and it's a dark blonde. The ginger faded in primary school and slowly became.blonde.

Rocknrollstar · 22/08/2024 12:06

DS was light brown, blond in summer then puberty came and his turned black. His DS was away on gap year and dint recognise him when she came back

I went to school with someone like that, his surname was Whiting to I assume it was a strong family feature.
