How do you manage nappy free time once they are on the move?

I like to let my DS have some time with his nappy off. Now he has started to roll about though this is getting hard to manage. The other day we had an incident where he rolled around in poo - it wasn't pretty! Any tips or do I just need to accept the risk?

You're a brave lady, I gave up on nappy free time, unless its warm and we can go in the garden!

I never do nappy free time unless DS is running away from me at changing time. What he did have is a massage a couple of times a week and that was nappy-less, although that wasn't really the point. Once he got mobile of course that stopped.

Now he is older his poo times are far more predictable. He is pretty regular so I'm pretty confident I could let him run around naked. I can't see why he would though, I'm not convinced of the benefit unless there was a case of nappy rash.

I was doing it because he was getting nappy rash. He's only six months so only just started to roll around. I think I might have to give it up!

Ds usually has a poo first thing, so we know early evening before he goes up for bath and such like is pretty safe, although he is almost walking now so its usual to have to mop up a leak or two with some kitchen roll.

Last week he was stood up against the coffee table and wee'd all over it - his first standy up wee - I was so proud

Dare to be bare, I say! If you want to do it you could just put him on a towel and have wipes at the ready? Also they do begin to poo less around then, don't they? So maybe time bare bum time after changing a poo-ey nappy?

The after poo plan sounds good! I just got a bit of a shock at the rolling in giant poo incident!

Agree with kingfix.

Rolling in poo is an icky rite of passage though. DD is potty training and has been known to pick up her poos to examine them. Ewww.
