Question about nits!

Daughter 10 has nits for the first time. I've just ordered the nitty gritty comb. My question is, once I've done her hair with it, I'd like to do my own to make sure I don't have them. What is best way to make sure the nit comb has no nits on it? Should I just wash it or buy a separate comb to be on the safe side?

You will be able to see them in the nitty gritty comb and also when you wipe them off eg onto tissue. It's quite easy to clean the comb and you will be fine using it on yourself.

Tons of (cheap) conditioner pre-combing helps. Good luck!

Jug of boiling water.

Use skin so soft - it really works and suffocates the lice and eggs.

If you have thick hair they real hurt and stretch your hair. The plastic combs work better.

I think you would know if you have them. They itch awfully. If you aren’t itching, I wouldn’t bother. Keep hair up. But I have a comb for each child so no risk of cross contamination.

Nitty gritty comb is fab for getting rid but the cheap basic white ones are better for checking! Usually available for £1 at pharmacies etc. use the wider tooth side and comb through hair over a white sink- any beasties would fall out. Or eggs/babies would be seen in teeth.

You can see them.
Also repeat it several times both you and your DD.
