Childcare-home transition

some of you may have already experienced this: you take your perfectly happy baby to childminder, she stays there all day playing and then on the way back or back at home has the biggest meltdown and tantrum, mostly crushing it all on poor mum. Is it a phenomena? Is there a way out? Any tips? I have a 18mo and we just started with a childminder. She came back home and refused to obey anything I said unlike before and was seemingly annoyed at everything for a while.

Obey?

She's 18 months old and been at a childminder's all day. She's a young toddler and she's tired.

My son is 3 and does 6 hours at nursery 3 days a week. On those days he comes home and between 3pm and 6pm we just relax with something nice on the telly, play quietly with his toys, then he has dinner, bath and bed. Everything is calm and peaceful.

Imagine how you feel after a long day at work. What do you want to do when you get home? She's tiny, just go easy on her.

She's just tired. One of mine is still a bit like this at 6. Tired children are awful.

18 months is just a baby though, so I wouldn't have particularly high expectations for behaviour.

You're heading into the tantrum years now, so jus buckle in and stock up on coffee and wine.
