Anyone have any ideas/know how to make extra money whilst on maternity leave.

Currently have/do the following to try and get a little extra in

-airtime rewards
-rewards from my bank
-vinted

Really starting to get worried about money & don't mind working from home.

You could do self employed work but couldn't work for another employer

When you say you're on mat leave, do you mean you are currently employed? If that's the case have a look at your contract to see what it says about taking up work outside your employment - there are typically some restrictions.

Prolific is really good. It's surveys but they're usually pretty well paid.

I'm fully employed. It wouldn't be much just to try and survive. An extra £20-£50 a week would make a difference.
Maternity pay is shocking.
There isn't anything in my contract from stopping me.

I'll have a look at this. Thankyou

Depending on the age of baby, doing KIT days? I felt I could do them from 7/8 months onwards I felt ok to leave baby to do 4 hours plus at work

I'm not on mat leave yet. Baby is due December. Just want to plan ahead.
Yeah I'll be doing kit days I'll be only taking the 9 months off unfortunately as would be able to survive without any pay for three months.

I'd look into learning a new skill that you could then market remotely and on your own terms, rather than a potentially quick/non-sustainable/not worth your time from an hourly pay perspective route. I learned to code whilst on maternity leave.

Hi what resources did you use to help you learn to code?

Yes definitely. How did you learn to code if you don't mind me asking?

YouTube, for the specific coding language I wanted to learn. It's not Python or any of the more universal languages though.

@haveagoharry I'll have a look into this. I guess you earn from doing it?

Collect up all your used make up and toiletries, take them to boots for recycling and get £5 worth of points. You can do it several times a month. Then use your points to buy nappies/wipes etc.

I earn from what it is I created with coding, rather than the coding itself if that makes sense.

I'm with you OP. Currently on maternity leave and it's been a squeeze.

There's some really good threads on here about making extra money which I found helpful. In particular I liked this one: www.mumsnet.com/talk/money-matters/4759761-ways-to-supplement-your-income
I tried a few of the suggestions with varying levels of success. I intend to re visit now I'm in the unpaid part of my mat leave.

I spent most of my spare time doing surveys. Prolific aren't accepting new members but I use Qmee, Branded and Atta Poll and have made £300 since February. They are tedious at times and you get rewarded little for the time expended but the money does add up if you stick at it.

Have a trawl through mumsnet for more ideas- there's a thread about making a tenner a day which might also be useful. Good luck
