Trampoline recommendations please

We’re going to buy a 6ft trampoline (we don’t have room for anything bigger) and want a good quality, sturdy one that will last a good few years. It will be outside year-round. Any recommendations?

Any bigger is madness anyway. Our neighbours filled their garden with a trampoline during lockdown. They all jumped, we shut the blinds 😡

One that gets buried into the ground. Much safer as a priority, less of an eyesore, less of an annoyance to the neighbours. Honestly, 6ft isn't big enough to be safe.

I won’t be spending £1k on a trampoline, but thanks for the recommendation. Why is 6ft not big enough to be safe (with safety netting?)

You don't need a bigger one anyway as you should never have more then one person on a trampoline at a time. This is when serious accidents happen, if they bounce at the wrong time the surface goes taught and it can be like landing on a concrete service. When DS did gym they where never allowed more then one at a time on the trampolines. The size is irrelevant.

The Asda one is great value for money. Ours lasted 7 years outside all year with a lot of use. You can replace the net and spring covers which got worn. When the jump net got ripped I decided to replace.

I'd stay clear as they cause so many injuries (often serious) but definitely avoid if DC is under 6.

PDA · 12/08/2024 09:10

DC is autistic and bounces to self-regulate. A trampoline with a net is safer than the bed/sofa which he spends all day jumping on at the moment. Trampolines with a net are basically safe, there are very small amounts of risk with lots of things… bikes, scooters, climbing frames etc. Are children even allowed a childhood any more? 😅

Can anyone else recommend trampoline brands without a safety lecture?

If safety is a priority then these are great. We had one for 11 years (stayed outside all that time) and it was in great condition, we passed it on to our friends and it’s still looking great.

They are prity safe, as long as only one person use it at a time. Something like 75% of accidents happen when more then one person is on a trampoline. Which is why its pointless have a massive one as the temptation is to let lots of kids pile on at once.

You just need a good size one that will be big enough for you kids as they grow. You may feel comfortable letting two on at a time, but that's upto you. I'd never have one big enough to allow lots on at once, that's when the accidents happen.

I'm sure he'll have lots of fun.
