Double buggy for 15kg plus

I have a just turned 3yr old (June) and a 4month old. We have an uppababy vista v2 as our main buggy, which we love and is brilliant for local outings. DD1 is happy to hop on and off the buggy board. But we live in London and we don't have a car so do a lot of walking on rubbish pavements/ on off public transport if going further afield. We've done a couple of journeys to family with the vista in double mode and I hate it - it's unwieldy, rubbish going around corners, creaky and generally doesn't really feel safe. The thing is that DD1 just wouldn't manage a whole day out on the buggy board yet, especially on holiday, and baby in the sling isnt an option for a few reasons. So I need to look at some kind of double for the next year or so. We won't move into the new buggy until DD2 is 6months so I don't need to worry about carrycots etc.

I've read some MN threads and loads of the really highly recommend doubles, such as the babyjoggers and mountain duets are only up to 15kg per seat, which won't last the year as DD is already 14kg. Budget doesn't really stretch to a new nipper, although im keeping my eyes peeled for local second hand ones. But does anyone have any recommendations for higher weight seats?

I'm not a fan of the cosatto designs but they do have a double umbrella fold, which will do 25kg per seat, so I could live with the pattern if It's a decent stroller. Are there any other brands that I'm missing and should be looking at? This feels like it shouldnt be an unreasonable request but I'm finding it really hard to find what I'm looking for!

Out n about double nipper. Max weight per seat is 22kg i believe and backed up by google.

Great buggies too. We had an uppababy vista for DD from newborn. Bought an out n about at 18 months. I wish we'd never bothered with the uppababy!

Seen budget won't stretch to new nipper.

Look for a v4 online as some places may have old stock.

Very sell them and of you've never had a very accoung they do like 20 percent off for new credit accounts. Open a cresit account for the discount and pay it off right away.

Also look for v4 and v5's secondhand. Alot come up. Theres a very active out n about fb group people sell on. Doubles tend to come up more i find.

Thanks. Yeah we already have the vista plus a travel buggy so DH isnt keen on forking out £600 on another buggy we might only need for a year 🫣 But I am looking out for second hand ones as they seem to be the most recommended. Will have a look for the fb group. But keen to explore other options in case we can't find one for a price / condition we are happy with.

We have this age gap and we tended to use 2 separate buggies for holidays and longer days out (usually on weekends when we go out as a family, so DH pushes one). For trips out with just me, I was fine with the buggy board but we would mostly do shorter/local trips so the eldest was fine.

Advantage of 2 separate buggies is that we can bring both as cabin luggage and have them seated in airport queues, easier to fold one for buses, easier to navigate narrow paths and aisles and fit into lifts, one parent can take one child to separate parts of an attraction (eg different rides at a theme park, or take one to the bathroom), physically easier to push especially when the youngest gets older. Obviously only works if you have a second adult on hand.

Thanks! This was DH's view as well and for holidays it might work fine. I guess in my head I had this idea that I might be taking them both to stay with my parents whilst I'm on mat leave and DH is at work. But that might be a bit of an unrealistic pipe dream.

I've just looked up the cost of the second seat for our vista and it's £300 new as well, so already the same some of the cheap doubles I've seen online 🤦🏻‍♀️ and obviously more than second hand ones as well!

Just to note, the mountain buggy duet is up to 18kgs per seat (when in outward facing mode). The 15kgs limit is for the 'baby' parent facing seat. I have a 3.5 year old and a 1 year old, also in London, and I bloody love my mountain buggy duet

This is my own thread but I'm popping back to say that Uppababy are launching something called the Minu Duo next year and it basically looks like it fulfills all the criteria I was looking for especially as it is 22kg per seat. We have the single minu v2 as our travel buggy and it is great, so shame it hasnt already launched. Very annoying as we won't need it by then but thought it might help anyone who finds this thread in future!
