Not sleeping

Hi, looking for some light at the end of the tunnel here. I feel like such a different person since becoming a mum. I have a 3.5 month old. She sleeps on average 5-7 hours a night which is great but the issue now is that I cannot sleep. I didn’t get a wink last night I just lay there with my eyes shut trying to switch off, I did sleep stories etc but nothing would work. I’m afraid as if it continues how do I cope throughout the day with a baby. It’s awful. Please help.

I used to sleep during the day when the baby slept. And if the baby didn't want to sleep I'd put her in the car and drive around until she fell asleep and then pull up in a quiet parking space and have a sleep myself.

It's such a huge adjustment becoming a mum, there might be so many reasons why you are struggling to sleep. It could be that subconsiously your brain is on high alert listening out for baby, or just those hormones playing havoc with your body! Try to be kind and patient with yourself and make the sleep environment as good as you can, and hopefully this too shall pass! Good luck mama and I hope you get some sleep tonight :)

You poor love.
I went through the same and granted I did have pnd which probably played a part but I think I was always worried about being being woken , not getting enough sleep etc and I would work myself up anxious.

Melotonin has really helped and a chat with the Dr x

Can you take melatonin when breastfeeding?

I went through this and I spoke with my doc about it. She gave me mild anti anxiety meds and they really helped. They were breastfeeding safe and actually helped increase breastmilk also. Definitely speak with your doc, it's exhausting at the start and the meds made a big difference for me. 🤗
