I’ve attached an image of some dungarees that I really want to order for my son. The problem being they’re purple and orange.

my son has already been asked if he’s a girl lots of times and I usually only dress him in neutrals or blues/greens/rust so maybe I’m pushing it a bit with purple. I do feel like boys could pull these off but maybe I’m just hoping because I love them 😂

How odd that people are asking your one year old if he’s a boy or a girl. They obviously don’t know much about children as one year olds usually can’t say more than a few single words.

And it’s common for children to not know the difference between boys and girls reliably until they are about 3 or 4.

I can only assume you’ve met some rather stupid adults.

Those dungarees are white and orange stripes with purple accents. Absolutely fine for boys or girls for that matter. Definitely unisex

I thought that this was going to be like that dress which some people where blue and others yellow. And you thought they were purple and half of mumsnet agreeing and the other half saying they're purple

I hate poppers on the bottom of dungarees, I find it much easier to strip them off and then only do the two buttons at the top! I accept that I'm an anomaly in finding poppers so difficult though.

OP please don't raise your son with all this sexist nonsense. Your initial fear about what colours boys can wear, and now your latest update seemingly thrilled about him running and play fighting, makes it clear you have very archaic views of what a boy is and should be. Your son will pick up on this attitude and so the patriarchy continues. Your child's sex is irrelevant to what he should be dressed in, what activities he does or should be encouraged to do, or how he is spoken to or about. It's outdated, damaging bullshit, and we as women and mothers have a duty to put an end to.

I’m very concerned that my eyes are deceiving me. When I read my update, I just described my son’s personality. I am neither thrilled or upset. I am neutral. If he wants to be an athlete he can be, equally if he wants to be an artist he can be, maybe he will be booksmart and want something more paperwork orientated, also great. My little boy acts like a ‘typical boy’, if he was relaxed and delicate, I’d be equally as delighted (and my life would be much easier 😂).

Thank you but the stripes are actually lilac. Orange and lilac. Regardless, I think he will look great in them 🥹🥰
