^^INATTENTIVE^^ ADHD in young boys

Does anyone have a child, specifically a boy, who has been diagnosed with Inattentive ADHD. Aware that this is more usual for girls.

My son is 4, so it's early. I have inattentive ADHD diagnosed as an adult, I feel that he may be the same, from some of his behaviour and early 'school' reports (not real school yet).

  • difficulty making friends, prefers company of younger children (has younger siblings and neighbour, so maybe just more comfortable). Engages with other children in small groups or particularly at our house.
  • Hardly speaks at school, extremely withdrawn, has to be coaxed to say anything in class.
  • dreamer, drifts off in group situations and teacher has to recall attention.
  • I have witnessed some form of hyperactivity, at 'sports day' lots of jiggling around, fidgeting and looking at the sky! But not excessively high energy in general
  • hits me, spits at me, hits siblings. doesn't hit other children outside the family as far as I know, but did see him push neighbours little girl over recently. Doesn't seem to be able not to do this despite being told off a million zillion times for it. Often says afterwards 'I want to be good', to which I say he is good but mustn't hit
  • sometimes runs around doing a little scream, quite a specific sound which is always the same. Does this when I am trying to read a book to younger ones (might just be attention seeking, drives me mad!)
  • Repeats whole words and phrases from books and programs that I have read to him for a few years. Can't read, does know letters but can't see to focus on a book to start looking at the words, although he used to focus extremely well as a younger child and has hence memorised it all.
  • Hasn't learnt about time where others of his age have, e.g. no concept of yesterday, tomorrow, what did you do at the weekend, when asked at nursery he repeats the same things randomly (went to the beach/mountains/lake with mummy and daddy, each of which has only happened a few times)

I don't get an ASD vibe from him, he makes good eye contact, but maybe that's more the theme here reading the above? Or he is just a shy little 4 year old boy! Maybe I'm overthinking. Everything online is about hyperactive boys, but he reminds me a lot of what I imagine myself as a young child to have been like

@LoudHam do you have an update on your son? From what I’ve read some of these things sound more like ASD but we are also in the beginning of our pathway and I believe there is much overlap (50%) of ADHD and ASD.
