Swapping to Pyjamas

What age did you swap from sleepsuits to Pyjamas?

Our DS is 16 months now and I feel like he's nearing the age where I can start to put him in pyjamas but equally he still feels quite young and I worry he'll get chilly.
Just curious to know what sort of age other's swapped to PJ's

One year old. Sleepsuits drove me mad. Should have switched to pyjamas sooner.

Why would a sleep suit be any warmer? Especially if he's in a sleeping bag still rather than a duvet. We changed from sleeping bags to duvet at around 2 years old.

He currently doesn't wear a sleeping bag as it's been fairly warm and he runs warm in general so overheats quite quick.

You're right though, colder months he'd be just fine in PJ'S I'm sure, I just worry this time of year that the tops would ride up where he rolls about in his sleep

If his room is cooler pop a sleeveless vest on him. My son was in the ones that popper at the crotch til past 2 years old and now wears the normal vest style under pyjamas and tops when it's cooler weather.

As soon as he started pulling to stand, so about 8 months, the feet on the sleep suits made him slip on our wooden floor (I’m aware you can get footless ones but I just thought pjs were easier to get on him as he wriggled away from me)

Yes, I have the same issue, he hates getting dressed so trying to do the poppers drives me mad! And the bigger he gets the more poppers they add on 🥴

I used Bonds wondersuits which have a zip and no feet, so DD wore them until she was 3. It worked for us as DD has eczema and the wondersuits prevented her from scratching.

DappledThings · 24/07/2024 10:20

About one. I also hated sleepsuits. You can always add a poppered vest if you want to be sure his torso stays covered.

InTheRainOnATrain · 24/07/2024 10:27

We swapped around 1. I don’t get how snug fitting, long sleeved, long bottomed PJs are any less warm than a sleep suit? Plus they’re easier to put on especially for toddlers that don’t lie down on a changing table, easier to change a nappy, you can mix and match when it’s in between weather between the shorts and long ones.

When they potty trained at 2

Daisymae55 · 24/07/2024 10:35

We swapped at a similar age OP. Sleepsuits drove me nuts - always far too long in the legs but a size smaller wouldn’t have fit around her tummy (she wasn’t a big baby, but quite short). Pyjamas meant she could run around in the morning without tripping over her feet

middleagedandinarage · 24/07/2024 10:38

I can't remember exactly but i think when they were walking so about a year. I'm sure I put a sleevless vest under pj's the first winter to keep them warm in case PJ top rides up

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 24/07/2024 10:46

About 20 months for both DDs. That was when we moved them from a cot to a bed. In the cot they had sleeping bags and onesies, and we moved to duvets and pyjamas when we moved to a bed.

MammaTo · 24/07/2024 10:56

Mine is 18 months and I’m clinging onto sleepsuits as much as I can because he looks so bloody cute in them. He does have PJs that he wears and while it’s been warm I tend to let him sleep in a long sleeve vest and sleeping bag. But I do love putting a sleepsuit on him some nights 😂.

AegonT · 24/07/2024 14:27

We switched for potty training so just over two years in both cases.

Superscientist · 24/07/2024 17:47

18 months when she learnt to remove her sleep suit in the night.
I hated sleepsuits with a passion and I plan to use a mix of sleep suits and PJ's from birth with my second

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 24/07/2024 17:59

About 3 months - way easier to change a nappy quickly and in the dark in pj's not a sleep suit!

Caspianberg · 24/07/2024 18:04

About 18 months. I didn’t want to have toy buy new pjs if the others still
fitted by the time potty trained. Same with sleeping bag, swapped to duvet around then ready.

8 months, around the time I realised dressing a death rolling alligator on amphetamine was a far easier and more pleasant experience than dressing DS 😂. Switched to pull ups and pyjamas, still a battle, but one I could win!

Yes, I have the same issue with the sleepsuits!

I know the feeling 🤭
Tried pull ups with DS but after having a poo fall out of one on me one time I gave up 🤣
Perhaps I'll have better luck with some jammies
