Salmon for baby - advice

Not really sure if anyone can actually answer this but my overtired brain is very anxious

My dd is 16 months and for the past 7 or 8 months she's been eating a fillet of salmon once a week. Is this harmful?

I've read it's low in mercury but can contain contaminants and even high amounts of salmon can be linked to cancer. I had no idea they are supposed to have just one tablespoon until today.

Sorry if this is a daft question, I am an anxious person in general 😔

I've never heard of this before.
Doing a quick look online it it says no more than 2 servings a week but it's a great food for children to eat.
If they enjoy it, keep feeding them it.

I think my son has probably had a salmon fillet every week of his life and he's a strapping 16 years old, very healthy lad. We had salmon for tea tonight!

Not going to lie, after seeing the title I thought you were wanting to name your baby Salmon (very daft of me) so I came to the rescue 😂

I think once a week is fine and you haven't done anything wrong.

Thanks. The amount recommend varies depending on age, under 3s seem to have strict limits which I didn't realise. It's her favourite food so I've always been over generous as she eats it all.

Salmon is fine for babies and has a lot of health benefits. We have had it once a week since the start of weaning. I’ve never heard about needing to restrict it. Maybe it is tuna you are thinking of which does tend to have higher levels of Mercury?
