(Well, not , just more fed up)

DS hates wearing nappies, but he will NOT wee in a potty.

He used to tell me before a wee (in a nappy), but he has stopped that now .

Today I decided to let him not wear one as he gets so upset, but he just wees on my floor. If you sit him on a potty he'll play with himself then wee on the floor 5 mins later.

Now he has weed against my armchair! He knew exactly what he was doing to be angling. (No way he could have been stood without holding it to do that).

I dunno what to do. DD was easy.

He's 2 & 2 months

i think it sounds as though hes not ready try leaving it for a month or so and try again when the weather improves that way he can run around at home without nappy on .it took 6 whole months to get my ds 10yrsold now to potty train and just a week with dd now 7yrs old.girls are easier that boys to train .not looking forward to ds3 potty training!!!!!!!!

I can't though - he won't wear the nappies! He takes them off.

I can't put him in a poppered vest because he rubs his nipples as a comfort thing and he sobs his heart out when he can't go under his top

have you tried big boy pants with maybe a cartoon character on them or would they come off too .just thinking that if he can feel how uncomfortable it is 2 b wet then he might keep them on .maybe he would try the big loo with added child seat ??.hope you find something that works

He likes pants... he wears them for a bit and either wets them or takes them off too

I have started to react when he does it intentionally though, which is a Very Bad Thing and making him do it more

I need to just do gentle encouragement rather than getting annoyed but it is soooooooooo hard when you see that glint in his eye.

Get a ping pong ball draw a face on with marker pen and float it in the toilet.(it won't flush away unless you have a truly ancient overhead cistern type flush) Get Daddy to show him how to aim at the ball, make it fun, a game.
Then make sure he has easy access to the toilet + a step to reach it for when he wants to go.
And leave him to it.

Nyeh · 13/04/2008 17:46

Ooh yes, I've heard of the ball. It hadn't occurred to me to just let him loose with the toilet Would help with the whole thing where potties seem to small and he pokes out over the edge thing.

Will have to go and hunt out some good steps - he is tiny so just a basic step is too low (although he does try his hardest to yank it off to reach )

pound land seem to frequently get "2 step" steps in. they are just about big enough for DS ( ablout same age as yours IIRC) to reach the loo with. he seems to prefer potty however- no accounting for boys tastes.
held it in for 5 hours this morning! was busting to go but refusing.... arrrgh. then widdled all over his chair at lunch.

Flamesparrow · 14/04/2008 19:25

I tried explaining to him this morning that if he used the potty, then he wouldn't have to take off the cool thomas pants... so he came wandering about 10 mins later, and I could see they were darker than they should be.

"Have you done a wee?"

"No."

Will go and look in poundland for steps

LittleMissTickles · 14/04/2008 19:34

Have you tried bribes, or should I say rewards? Tell him he can have a couple of milky bar buttons every time he wee's in potty.

UniS · 15/04/2008 20:14

feel for you. yesterday was dreadful, 4 wees on floor during afternoon, none in potty. he gets so stressed about his socks getting wet...
Thankfully living room carpet is scotchguarded.
