When will I know what's wrong with him?

My son is two years old, he's entirely non-verbal, including babble. He can't stand independently or walk yet. He's having physio, and speech therapy but everything seems so 'wait and see' and it's so difficult to do. I want to argue to genetic testing, autism assessments, investigations into anything really, if he has a genetic syndrome then I can accept that, if he's autistic then ok, it's the not knowing. People keep telling me to give him time but he is two and a half years old, he should of been toddling around and talking to me for a while now. He's stuck as an infant and I'm desperate for answers. When will it become enough to investigate? When will it become obvious? When will I know that he will be ok?

Have you been referred to paediatrics? I would be pushing for this if you haven’t been already. My DD has just turned 2 and is not walking. We have been doing physio since 19 months and they have now agreed to refer us for further tests.

We had a review and they upped the frequency of the physio and the speech therapy but that was it.

what do physio say? are they worried,
i would ask the therapists who are involved

I self referred my child for an autism assessment at this age. I know this isn't true of all boroughs but worth a try!

This sounds terribly difficult. It's a question for the healthcare professionals already involved though, not a question for Mumsnet.
